Helpful Details Before You Order

Design Tips

  1. Prepare artwork at 300 DPI at the final print size.
  2. Use CMYK color mode when possible. Screen color can differ slightly from printed color.
  3. Keep small text, fine lines, borders and narrow cut areas thick enough to print and apply cleanly.
  4. Review spelling, scale, color, border and cut shape carefully on the digital proof.

Application planning

Design for the shelf—and the surface beneath it.

Retail graphics need clear color and practical placement, but the package finish still controls wet-out and removal. Check the exact bag, box, jar or display card before the full run.

Brand & packaging

Match the product to the real job.

Create retail stickers that support product presentation, seasonal campaigns and in-store handoffs while matching the real package or display surface.

Before productionIf any condition is unknown, sample-test the finished sticker on the real surface.

Complete sticker construction

Five layers. One complete sticker system.

A sticker works as one construction. Review each layer’s job, then confirm the exact material codes and test the finished build on the real surface.

Five separated sticker material layers for brand & packaging
Layers are separated for clarity and are not shown to scale. In production they work as one finished construction.
01
FacestockOpaque printable synthetic film, or a paper-compatible face when a natural paper look is required.
Why this choice

Packaging needs dependable opacity and print definition; the exact board coating still decides whether a film or paper face is appropriate.

02
AdhesiveRemovable water-based acrylic candidate for sealed paperboard; permanent or higher-tack candidate when the label must remain.
Why this choice

This separates clean-opening or campaign needs from permanent branding while acknowledging fiber tear, staining and coating-damage risks.

03
InkCMYK, with a mapped white underprint only on clear or specialty faces.
Why this choice

CMYK carries brand color; white ink prevents the package color or metallic base from changing selected artwork areas.

04
ProtectionHandling-resistant varnish or thin laminate selected for shipping friction, condensation and expected package life.
Why this choice

Packaging is rubbed during packing and delivery, so protection should match the real distribution environment rather than an assumed durability level.

05
Liner & applicationStable glassine release liner; grid-marked liner when hand alignment or secondary cutting benefits.
Why this choice

A stable liner protects the adhesive and supports die cutting, storage and repeatable placement without adding unnecessary face stiffness.

Engineering boundary: these are use-case-specific starting directions, not finished supplier specifications or unconditional performance claims. Confirm the exact facestock, adhesive, ink, protection and liner codes, then validate the finished construction on the real surface when the application is unfamiliar or demanding.

Common uses for Retail Stickers

See where this product fits—and where to test first.

Use these examples as practical starting points. The exact surface, shape, exposure and service period still determine whether a finished sample should be tested.

Shelf packaging

Shelf packaging

Support recognition and product information while matching the package coating and shelf life.

Shopping bags

Shopping bags

Test coated, recycled and textured bags separately when adhesion or clean removal matters.

Seasonal displays

Seasonal displays

Use short-run promotional graphics on approved display surfaces with a defined removal date.

Product handoffs

Product handoffs

Connect bags, tissue, inserts and smooth containers with one visual system and surface-specific testing.

Why Inkelligent

A clearer path from artwork to application.

Custom stickers are easier to order when the artwork, material direction and production approval are handled as one connected process.

Proof before production

Review the artwork, scale, cut shape and visible details on a digital proof before the order moves into production.

Practical guidance

Use the surface, shape, exposure and service period to identify a sensible starting construction instead of relying on one material name.

Clear testing boundaries

When a surface or condition is unfamiliar, we identify what still needs confirmation rather than presenting an unconditional performance promise.

Before you approve

Useful checks, without the guesswork.

Use these answers to identify what should be confirmed in the proof or a physical sample.

Will this stick to every surface?

No adhesive is universal. Cleanliness, coating, texture, surface energy, curvature and dwell time can change the result. Test the exact surface when any of these are unknown.

What does gloss versus matte change?

Finish changes appearance, glare and surface feel. It may also influence scuff visibility and handling, so choose in the context of the artwork, lighting and use conditions.

Which packaging surfaces need a sample test?

Test recycled, waxed, varnished, heavily textured, dusty or unknown board, plus packaging exposed to oils or condensation. Check both adhesive transfer and visible fiber tear.

When should I request extra guidance?

Ask before production when the surface is unknown, textured, coated, tightly curved, exposed to chemicals, safety-critical or expected to remove cleanly after a long dwell.

Need a different starting point?

Match the use conditions first—or compare every product.
